The Academic initiative program facilitates a global model of partnership between industry and academia to drive evolving open standards-based IT skills - essentially "in demand skills for an on demand world."
In India, OTS Academic Initiative program runs projects such as Project INVITE ( partnering with IT progressive States that are rapidly adopting Information Technology to enhance E-Governance and Citizen Services), The Great Mind Challenge contest (promotes students from engineering colleges from across India to develop real life solutions, in a real life scenario using IBM open source software).
Further OTS assists the students not only to come across real time project scenarios but also helps them with free hands on training sessions in the technologies involved in making solutions for those projects, providing a ready list of e-mentors from OTS they can consult for their projects and free downloads of the software and e-books involved in making of their projects.
